Letter from WM PAL Board
For the past several weeks, articles have appeared in the paper concerning the negotiations, or lack thereof,a between the town and the West Milford PAL. Reading these might have given the impression that the PAL was not doing its part. That we weren't making an effort. They were filled with derogatory political sound bites, instigating negative feelings towards the organization, its dedicated employees and its numerous volunteers. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the PAL has been working for four years to try and negotiate with the town and its council. We attended a number of meetings and have always remained as flexible as possible. In March of 2014, we were presented with a new lease, to which we agreed. Subsequently, we were offered another version for approval, and again accepted it. We had even paid the financial requirements for November and December. After all that was done, the town then returned our check in January and asked us to vacate the building.
Four years of running us around in circles, with things being changed on us each time, many times by new players. The biggest disappointment here is not one council member has made a single supportive statement for our orginization. The WM PAL exists solely for the purpose of serving the children of this town. It has created endless amounts of good memories for West Milford families. It is not just a building, or a sports program,. It is part of the fabric of our community. Our people know and care about every kid that walks through our doors. It is unthinkable that this valuable organization would cease to exist here. The town is putting the need to obtain the building for their own use over the needs of your children. We hope the council thinks long and hard about their decision. Let them know you have too. Support your PAL. Because in order for kids to go places, they have to have a place to go.
PLEASE STOP IN TO THE OFFICE AND SIGN OUR PETITION TO SAVE THE PAL
